Shazam, Dial Zero, Open Home, Locale, Last.fm, Seesmic, Fring, Slacker, Pandora, runstar, Astrid, Twidroid, Amazon, ...
@ginatrapani my guess is that it took a while for people to see the traction that Android is getting, but for example...
Compare that to Twitter, which doesn't offer *any* apps for its own service. Nothing but third parties there.
Does Google have a deeper level of access into the OS than 3rd party developers, maybe accounting for some of the reason?
When they wise up and stop developing for the iPhone instead!
what about layar and shazaam? I know they're not android exclusive but they turned my head!
with exceptions like @shopsavvy, @flyscreen and @waze, there is very little on the #Android market that gives that zOMG moment.
Are they afraid of Google? Afraid they can't compete, that is?
Android right now is like the Nintendo consoles...only first-party stuff are head-turners.
When they've had a chance to learn the system. Android really only hit mainstream with droid, gotta give em time.
They are too busy making money with Apple...
When it's worth their time (i.e. Profitable$
what about NubiNews, Dolphin Browser, Qik and Aldiko??
counter: shopsavvy, acast (google listen is terrible), twidroid
I think it's because Google doesn't care about their apps making direct revenue. 3rd parties don't seem impressed by Market.
hope goggles application turns up on the market soon here in the UK.
That's discouraging since I'm looking in the market to change from iPhone to Android phone. :(
when there's enough market to make it worthwhile developing :)
To be fair to developers Google have pretty much wall-gardened the development of android giving themselves a head start...
I thought Android was 'open source'. And everyone complains about Apple being a 'walled community'.
What about Yelp? I don't have Android so can't test but if it does AR it should be awesome.
and oh, i think the goggle maps update was actually a downdate..i mean why remove features?
@jeffjarvis android gmail has falls short in areas, too.. can't seem to get android to email non-photo attachments. arrgh!!!
Better yet, when does Apple realize Google apps work and open up for Voice, etc, to compete with Droid
Once the Android marketplace actually has an interface as good as Apple's and the Android OS has a sufficient market share.
'Locale' is a third party head-turner for Android. The iPhone literally can't silence my phone when I walk into my classroom.
does the nook count as an android head-turner?
Don't forget Google Listen. It allows me to listen to TWiG each week!
