This Week in Google, Episode 51

July 15, 2010

Leo, Jeff and I jawed about the new Android App Inventor, Picnik in Picasa, mobile local search, my 23andme results, and iPhone 4 in this week's episode. My tip of the week: setting up a rich text signature in Gmail.

Really nice tip there. I’ve been stuck on a Greasemonkey script for quite awhile that sometimes malfunctions. This is gonna make it so much easier.

On App Inventor, I think if we give it another year, it’ll be one of things that will prove revolutionary.

Love the show!

Do you have any idea as to whether Google’s Simple language for the Android is still in development? It’s a VB-like language for developing Google Apps, and was released last year:

http://code.google.com/p/simple/

Seems like it went one step beyond App Inventor in letting you create more sophisticated code to run after certain actions. But there doesn’t seem to have been any additional development on it since last year; that’s a pity.
