Happy to announce that my weekly tech therapy session, This Week in Google, is now available for to watch on YouTube. In this week's episode we covered Google's treatise on the meaning of open, the Nexus One, and more. Here are all the links discussed in episode 22.

Also: I’m trying out a new YouTube image thumbnail display on the Smarterware front page. Lemme know if it causes any problems for you.

This is great! It’s stupid question time for me though: is there a way to grab this as an RSS feed? I know a while back I used to be able to do it for regular user accounts, but I don’t know if it’s still possible with the special account they setup for twit.

@Jimmy: for the life of me, can’t seem to find a built-in YouTube playlist RSS feed. This site seems to do it, but I can’t find the playlist’s ID to make it work:

Any ideas?

Well, thanks to this site:

http://www.jakeludington.com/youtube/20071212_how_to_get_your_own_youtube_rss_feed.html

I managed to get this to work, for all TWiT shows:

http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/twit/uploads

That doesn’t have an enclosure though. If you want to do the video attached, try:

http://www.youtube.com/rss/tag/twit.rss

That seems to include other stuff tagged as twit though, so I’ll keep looking, but hopefully that gives us a good start.

Doh! I just realized that while that produces valid RSS, the video files it’s attaching aren’t working. I could probably do up my own PHP script for it, but something tells me that if I do that, It’s ending up on TWig, and erm… well, my dreamhost account isn’t ready for that, lol.

Want me to give it a go and send it your way to host on your server if I get it working?

@Jimmy: I’m on a pretty decent host if you want me to try it out. If you want to email it, I’m over at Admin at ajama dot org.

Thanks for the offer Andrew. Sadly, after a lot of trial with this, it looks like Google very much does not want you to be able to enclose the video directly in a feed. The closest that you can get to doing so is to enclose the SWF player, but that doesn’t really help podcast programs any. Doh!

It probably still can be done, but it very likely would break some terms of service with Google, so I’m going to have to call it quits here.

Maybe there will be options for this soon though :)
