I know that Tracy Pell has done great work in helping connect people in Africa with folks here in America through social networking and micro-economic solutions. As the "third world" continues to play a greater role in global affairs because of its resources - both human and natural - it's important to consider the impact of social networking on that development and on connecting folks in small African villages with those in mighty American cities. I voted for “Beyond Twitter: Can Social Technologies Effect Global Change?“.
