For those of you who remember watching “The Jetsons” back in the day and drooling over all of the automation that was going to hit in the future, the time has finally come! At least – in bits and pieces. We’ve got all the right parts to do the computer processing, and we have all of the parts to run communication signals wirelessly all around the world, so now it’s just a matter of matching up these possibilities with different aspects of your home life.
So, to that end, the new wave of tech automation for home that’s now upon us includes application and software remote control capability, controllable lighting fixtures, remote locks on doors, remote security camera features, and a whole gamut of voice recognition possibilities for Internet and audio device use.
Application and Software Remote Control
The availability of lots of home automation processes has been around for a least a little while, but a central processing menu screen is something that’s new on the market. By essentially creating a central brain for all of your home automation needs and creating a nice graphical menu for you, it takes a lot of the learning curve away from doing the simple and repeatable tasks that in the past have made controlling automation a bit of a headache.
Lighting Fixtures
There are all kinds of different automatic lighting fixtures that you can install in your home these days as well. With the advent of LED lighting tech, any room in your house can be automated through color, intensity, and special mode settings, which means that you can set the mood both in terms of enjoyment and relaxation, and even power and money saving modes. Prices on these types of items keep going down as well, so cost is no longer a prohibitive matter.
Locks On the Doors
How many times have you gotten stuck out in the rain trying to fish for your house keys, or needed to take multiple trips back and forth to a car because you didn’t have enough hands to take care of unlocking the door as well? To counter this, there are a number of automated entry methods for you now, that either have a remote open, or even a proximity sensor that will do the deed for you.
Security Cameras
Installing in-home security cameras is becoming more of a thing lately as well, and you can control these sensors and camera via your mobile phone quite easily. Some common uses of the technology would include having recordings of potential break-ins, or even just checking up on kids to make sure they’re doing their homework!
Voice Recognition For Internet and Audio Devices
And finally, voice recognition automation is an interesting convenience for homes these days as well. By just saying a few words, you can have a central piece of equipment that will take notes for you, play music for you, or give you other information that’s available on the internet that you’re searching for on a whim.
