In many ways, the Internet and related software are working as great equalizers when it comes to many different opportunities regarding information. There are no longer physical gatekeepers to many sets of knowledge, and the price of access to information is, technically, almost at a zero point. This is amazing for people who are motivated to use online capabilities to their greatest advantage.
So when it comes to education, there are many different ways to jumpstart your learning potential, and five of them specifically are through online classes, web-based subscription sites, video conferencing around the world (think for learning languages), free college links, and online book checkouts. The more you use these resources, the fuller your education will tend to be.
Online Classes
The most promising bridge between the old way of education and the new way is through paid online college classes. For instance, if you want to get into the medical field, you can now take online medical assistant classes. This will save you some money as opposed to going to a full campus class, but will also be accredited so that the work you do will go directly to your further education potential.
Web-Based Subscription Sites
Then there are sites like Lynda.com and Askvideo.com that has hundreds and hundreds of high-quality tutorials available to you, and they are updated almost daily with new information. If you want to learn from the top experts in the world about any number of creative or software-based sets of applications, these subscription based sites are absolutely the most effective way of getting that info at your own pace. They don’t come with official certificates of any sort, but the information is exactly the same as college-level courses, and comes much, much cheaper if you use the system effectively.
Video Conferencing Around the World
And think for a minute about learning a new language. In the past, you’d have to rely on teachers and books, tapes and academic audio setups. But now, with new internet connection technology and some new peer-to-peer networking concepts, you can ping anyone around the world in the county of your choice and learn the language directly from speaking to them. This is a great way to learn conversational language instead of the academic variety as well!
Free College Links
Many colleges now offer free classes as well, just to allow people to check out what kind of information is available. Once again, this isn’t to get official credit, but rather just to spread the wealth of knowledge that’s now just waiting for anyone online who is interested.
Online Book Checkouts
And finally, physical libraries are no longer the best place to check out books. You simply have to find them online, or even subscribe to places like the Kindle Unlimited library, and you have access to an incredible amount of the world’s available information in book format. There’s no excuse anymore for not getting an education, as with a few clicks, everything is at your fingertips!
