Go Playlist-Crazy at MixTape.me

MixTape.me Lifehacker's lead editor Adam Pash launches his "pet project" MixTape.me today, a slick web-based music player where you can find tunes, listen to, create, and share playlists, get lyrics, artist bios, and music videos all inside a browser tab.

I'm not sure what astounds me most about MixTape.me: that this is Adam's first major web development undertaking, or that he found the time to build something so mature and addictive outside of a demanding dayjob. After all our blustery hand-waving about being productive, teaching yourself new skills, and making things you care about at Lifehacker, this guy is truly walking the talk. Congratulations, Adam! Check out MixTape.me, and see what fun I've been having there with my playlists.

Update: Check out a playlist of mine that's gotten a few favorites and comments after the jump.

This is a playlist I put together based on a mix Michelle from Aurgasm sent me. I've been jamming to this in iTunes for a few weeks now, so I'm happy to share the love. (Thanks Michelle, for making me look like I've got great taste!)

I works pretty well. I like the interface, it’s clean and intuitive. I had a little glitch with the “No Results Found” message persisting when I did another search that did return results (below the message), but I think it’s an excellent start.

Yeah this is cool, but isn’t it exactly like the old muxtape.com which got shutdown?

i hate to be pessimistic, but unless i’m missing something here, i think this site will be shut down within a few weeks..

I think the difference is that MixTape.me isn’t hosting the music files, it’s just offering an interface to find ‘em and play ‘em. With Muxtape, you actually uploaded the MP3’s to their server.

Glad you like some of the tunes!

Thank you for making me look like I’ve got internet/Lifehacking skillz. :)
